On July 7, 2026 local time, a delegation led by Mr. Yu Shiwei, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Iraq, visited the Al-Daura Thermal Power Plant 4×160MW Expansion and Rehabilitation Project in Iraq, which is jointly undertaken by our company and China Western Power Industrial Co., Ltd. (CWPC). The delegation conducted an on-site inspection of the project’s construction progress and held discussions and exchanges with the project team.
During the visit, Counselor Yu Shiwei fully recognized the phased achievements made by the project team in overcoming challenges such as the complex security situation and difficult construction conditions. He noted that Iraq is currently facing a significant shortage in electricity supply. Chinese enterprises operating in Iraq should adapt to the country’s evolving development environment, ensure effective contract performance, strengthen brand awareness of “Made in China,” and deliver high-quality projects that can stand the test of time. At the same time, enterprises should maintain a strong sense of bottom-line thinking, comprehensively enhance safety management and risk prevention, and demonstrate the responsibility and commitment of Chinese companies.
Amid continued instability in the Middle East, the Al-Daura Project is facing multiple challenges, including supply chain disruptions and logistical obstacles. Nevertheless, the builders from CBITEC and CWPC have risen to the challenge and moved forward with determination. Going forward, our company and CWPC will carefully study and implement Counselor Yu’s guidance, always placing quality and safety as the top priorities. Through measures such as optimizing construction organization, strengthening coordination with local partners, and advancing material stockpiling, we will contribute to Iraq’s power security and improvement of people’s livelihoods through concrete actions. We are committed to building the project into a benchmark example of China-Iraq cooperation and demonstrating the strength and contribution of Chinese enterprises.
